DOKI DOKI

DOKI DOKI is the heartbeat of the nomadic soul. A living soundscape born from earth, wind, and movement, the project travels ancient paths from the East to the Mediterranean, echoing the spice routes where cultures, rhythms, and spirits once met.

Led by Madrid-based guitarist Melón Jiménez and Canadian flutist and bansuri player Lara Wong, the music brings together world flutes and percussions, voice and mantras, and electronic atmospheres.

Doki Doki, the Japanese onomatopoeia for a heartbeat, reflects the universal pulse that connects all cultures. From meditative stillness to ecstatic movement, DOKI DOKI invites listeners to travel along forgotten routes where music has always been a shared language.

This project is the latest creation of award-winning duo Melón Jiménez & Lara Wong. Based in Madrid, Spain, Melón and Lara came together in 2021, and since then they have played over 100 concerts in 4 continents, at venues like National Arts Centre (CA), Bluenote Shanghai, Festival Sulayr (SP), Mariposa Festival (CA), and Folk Alliance.
